Escaflowne Kicks - custom Nike Air Prestige II’s - Jacob Patterson

Just finished a pair of shoes, and before I head onto the next one I wanted to post some pics.

Escaflowne is a series know for its blending of shonen and shojo genres of anime, with a female protagonist, Hitoni, but great amount of violence. The client said he liked the way the guymelefs look, and that the mecha battles were always really well done.

I chose a base shoe to fit such a notion, and being my first pair of Nike Air Prestiges, I liked the way they fit with the almost organic angles of this series’ mechas. I also watched the series and movie. The movie blew my mind with how well it was casted, and really kept me moving on this pair.

Hitoni, in both the series and movie, uses some sort of pendant as a pivotal plot device. I used the one from the movie, which was crafted by a thief and hung from her neck after she took it from Escaflowne. I reflected this important sequence by crafting the same necklace and hanging it from the back of the shoes.

Now I am off to ship these and finish the other two or three pairs on queue.
